Vice President of Clinical Operations
Daisy DeWeese-Gatt brings over 24 years’ experience in the conduct and oversight of clinical trials spanning all phases, both in academics and the CRO industry. Most recently Ms. DeWeese-Gatt served as the head of oncology for IQVIA Biotech (formally Novella Clinical) where she was responsible for the operational delivery of oncology projects globally. Prior to joining IQVIA, she worked for PPD where she reported to the chief operating officer in addition to supporting the chief scientific officer. She provided project support and operational strategy under their leadership and assisted in launching the drug discovery unit. Ms. DeWeese-Gatt was also asked to serve as the region head for Latin America, where she provided executive oversight for the region while providing strategic support for global product development in emerging markets. She was also a consultant and later the Administrative Director of Clinical Trials for the Blumenthal Cancer Center where she oversaw the operational management of the hematology-oncology clinical trials program at Carolinas Healthcare System (currently Atrium Health), consisting of more than 150 studies in adult and pediatric patients.
Ms. DeWeese-Gatt has a defined interest in clinical trial awareness and she helped design and launch a specific curriculum designed to train US-based research naive medical oncologists and served as a clinical research instructor in the college of professional advancement at two NC based community colleges. Most importantly, she has served as part-time faculty at UNCW since 2015 where she loves teaching students.
Ms. DeWeese-Gatt received her Masters of Public Health degree from the Tulane University School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine, her Bachelor of Arts in Spanish from Davis and Elkins College, and received additional training in Latin American Social Policy from Augsburg College in Mexico, Nicaragua and El Salvador.
