Privia Health, Oracle, and HHS Collaborate on COVID-19 Study

Privia’s national network joins collaborative effort to study and treat Coronavirus

ARLINGTON, VA (May 15, 2020) In an effort to provide doctors and researchers with up-to-date information on the effectiveness of potential therapies to fight COVID-19 (Coronavirus), Privia Health is partnering with Oracle and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to conduct community-based research of the disease and its treatment.

The project utilizes Oracle’s “Therapeutic Learning System,” an online platform designed with security in mind and developed to gather comprehensive, real-time data from doctors and clinicians about how patients are responding to various Coronavirus treatment options.  An additional resource, called the Patient Monitoring System, allows patients to provide daily health updates, enabling medical experts and government officials to better understand the pandemic and develop strategies to fight it.

“Our physicians and providers are honored to join this national collaborative initiative and continue supporting our fight against the Coronavirus,” said Keith Fernandez, MD, Privia Health’s Chief Clinical Officer. “I’m extremely grateful for our patients who are volunteering their information and giving us additional ‘ammunition’ in the war against the pandemic’s impact on people around the world.”

Privia Health includes a network of more than 2,500 providers caring for 2.6 Million patients in multiple states. Privia’s proprietary cloud-based technology platform, innovative approach to patient engagement and focus on physician-driven wellness help improve patient outcomes and create healthier communities.

Through an ongoing partnership with Javara, Inc., an Integrated Clinical Research Organization, Privia’s physicians can also invite their patients to participate in clinical trials designed to develop treatments, and a potential vaccine, for the Coronavirus.

“We’re excited to bring our integrated approach to this project which will provide policy-makers and healthcare workers with the information they desperately need,” said Jennifer Byrne, CEO of Javara, Inc. “And I’m confident that community partnerships such as this one will not only help to provide vital information for this pandemic, but will also serve as a model approach to clinical care and clinical research that will help lay the foundations to better mitigate the next one.”
